Position Summary:

Responsible for all functions of the Medical Department.? Provide primary health care services consistent with the philosophy of Pit River Health Service.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. ??????? Renders diagnostic treatment, consultation, referral and emergency and other services to persons served, maintaining a productivity rate of four pph.???

  1. ??????? Participate in planning, directing, and coordination of medical services in the service delivery area, in compliance with PRHS goals and objectives.

  1. ??????? Conduct monthly Medical Staff, Medical Quality Assurance and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee meetings.

  1. ??????? Plan, develop, review, update, and approve medical protocols, in conjunction with medical and administrative staff.

  1. ??????? Responsible for continuity of patient care, referrals for specialty care, patient placement, and utilizing community resources.

  1. ??????? Provide consultation on annual budget for medical equipment, supplies, and staffing.

  1. ??????? Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the medical staff, inform the Executive Director of problems that affect efficiency of the medical department.

  1. ??????? Assist in the hiring process of medical provider personnel and make recommendation for position change and/or dismissal.

  1. ??????? Maintain, review, and update medical policies and procedures annually.

  1. ????? Act as liaison for Pit River Health Service and medical community in service delivery area.

  1. ????? Coordinate with other medical staff the planning, developing, and implementation medical quality assurance program.


  1. ????? Assist and prepare for the program review by the Indian Health Service and State Indian Health Program.? Correct any findings of noncompliance

  1. ????? Ensure the quality of medical services to all clients.

  1. ????? Act as Chairperson for Credentials and Privileges Committee for medical staff

  1. ????? Maintain all required licensing, certification in good standing.

  1. ????? Complete all necessary paper work and other assignments in a timely manner.

  1. ????? Maintain a written agreement with the Family Nurse Practitioner (s) regarding standardized procedures of care.

  1. ????? Provide telephone consultation for Family Nurse Practitioner(s) when a physician is not present in the clinic.

  1. ????? Provide in-service education for appropriate medical staff.

  1. ????? Provide telemedicine service for medically appropriate patients.

  1. ????? Supervise, coordinate and ensure quality of telemedicine protocols and evaluations with remote guidance.


  1. ??????? Graduated from an accredited medical school.

  1. ??????? Licensed to practice in the State of California, preferably Board Certified in Family Practice.

  1. ??????? Cultivate a knowledge and understanding of Indian culture and traditions and the specific community served in the area.

  1. ??????? Preference will be given to Native Americans in accordance with P.L. 93-638.

  1. ??????? Be willing to submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening tests.

  1. ??????? Possess a current CPR card.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
